Case study
Accessibility and modernization for a UK public-sector watchdog
A UK public body, via Browser London. Tech Lead, then contract. 2022 – present.
Context
The client is a UK public-sector watchdog. Its site is a WordPress multisite with regional language support. It carries thousands of publications. National news coverage brings sudden traffic spikes.
Accessibility program
From summer 2022 I led much of the WCAG accessibility work and implemented much of what shipped. We delivered it in stages. Template and content changes went out every two weeks. The site now targets WCAG 2.2 AA.
Integrations and approvals
I maintained and extended the site's integrations and its approval workflows. Those workflows span the client's communications team, its board, and external vendors.
Taking over the platform (2026)
In 2026 I took over architecture and infrastructure. I upgraded the platform from PHP 7 to PHP 8. I moved hosting from ECS on EC2 to Fargate. I moved CI from CircleCI to Bitbucket Pipelines.
